Aftermath
- By the end of World War 2, millions of people were homeless, the European economy had collapsed, and much of the European industry had been destroyed. The Soviet Union was also greatly affected.The U.S. Secretary of State George Marshall devised the "European Recovery Program". This was also called the Marshall Plan. During 1948-1952 the United States government raised $13 billion dollars for the rebuilding of Western Europe.
- The war took many lives. For this war the U.S. used the atomic bomb which raised many questions about our country. The WW2 still brings up conflicts in today's society and politics.
- Civilians were targeted by the bombing raids conducted by the British against German targets and visa verse.
- From the war, more advanced weapons were created. Also there were more well thought out military tactics.
- Men were dieing by the millions. Soon women were needed to fight. They were now able to fight in military wars.
